Leyli & Majnoon

For this piece, I told the old Persian love story of Leyli and Majnoon inside a woman’s hair.

Growing up, there is something very familiar about a mother combing her daughter’s hair while telling her stories. I wanted to capture that feeling — the idea of stories being passed down quietly, almost becoming part of us.

In the illustration, the story lives inside the hair. The characters and scenes move through it as if the story is dancing between the strands.
